Using Theradome with colored or highlighted hair

You can use Theradome with colored hair. We recommend the Theradome be used 8 hours after you color your hair, but only when your hair is dry. Also, hair stylists recommend that you do not wash your hair 48 hours after your hair is colored.

The reason why we recommend the helmet be used 8 hours after is because the hair will still be wet from the hair coloring treatment. Putting on the helmet beforehand can cause the hair color to stick to the inside of the helmet. This can cover up or obstruct the lasers that can become blocked by the hair coloring.

Also, our lasers accelerate the cuticles to close after a hair coloring treatment which results in much better results. This leads to less frizziness and longer lasting color as cuticles close with photons instead of chemicals.

Theradome 680 nanometer laser types including power output and wavelength

Theradome is the only company on the market that developed proprietary lasers that deliver 680 nanometers. Our lasers are the only lasers on the market that deliver 680 nm.

The Theradome PRO LH80 contains 80 proprietary lasers.  The Theradome EVO LH40 contains 40 proprietary lasers. 680 nanometers is the optimal wavelength for laser hair growth. Theradome lasers reach up to 5mm penetration into the scalp reaching and the base of hair follicles. Theradome’s strength increases blood flow to stop hair loss, thicken existing hair, and promote new hair growth.

Why is the treatment time 20 minutes long?

20 minutes is calculated based on fluency or stream of lasers delivered to the scalp. We based our calculations on years of research in order to reach nearly 7 joules/cm2. Our lasers are designed to produce this much fluency for a continuous 20 minutes. Any less would be inefficient and any more would result in over stimulation which can impede hair growth. Because of Theradome’s heat management system, we can deliver laser therapy without lasers pulsing and interrupting treatment.

Information on installing Theradome foam pads, foam inserts, Velcro sticks, Velcro pads to the helmet

First, make sure not to cover any of the lasers with the Velcro or foam pads. Follow these instructions to install:

Peel Velcro fasteners from the backing.
Affix Velcro to the inside of the helmet, with the sticky side adhering to the helmet and the Velcro facing out.
Connect foam pads to the Velcro.

Note: Placing the foam on the back of the helmet, over speaker holes will not interfere with audio transmission.

Does Theradome cause shedding or thinning hair?

The Theradome has zero side effects and does not cause shedding. It has been tested extensively for FDA clearance: You can read our blog post here: It explains that laser hair therapy does not cause shedding and helps you understand the hair growth cycle.

Also, shedding normally occurs twice a year for humans and sometimes massive shedding is a cause of diet, a change in hormones, or an underlying medical condition. If you are using Minoxidil, that may be a reason for your shedding as that is one of their side effects.  Please see our blog on hair shedding:

What are the dimensions of the Theradome helmet and what are the shipping box dimensions?

The shipping box containing the helmet is 3.6 lbs and 13.5″ long x 9.5″ wide x 7″ tall.
The dimensions of the carry case is: 12″ long x 9″ wide x 5.5″ tall.
The dimensions of the helmet are approximately 10.5” long x 6” wide x 5” high.
The helmet itself is smaller than that and weighs about 1 pound.

The Theradome units are shipped in a plain cardboard box with absolutely no labelling as many of our customers want these delivered to their workplace as we do have a signature required with our carriers such as UPS.

The helmet was engineered to fit 98% of the world’s population. The Theradome fits heads sizes up to 61.8cm. Optional foam pads are provided to create a more secure fit for smaller head sizes, but these are not necessary for the success of therapeutic effects.

Foam pads are provided for a comfortable fit, but a loose fit isn’t cause for concern. For best results, we’ve designed a comfortable fit enabling customers to SIT STILL during treatment. Activities such as browsing the Internet, watching TV or reading are perfectly compatible, but vigorous physical activity should be avoided during each 20-minute treatment session.

What is the success rate for Theradome and its results for hair regrowth?

Hair loss occurs over a prolonged period of time and the process of hair restoration takes time. Individual results differ based on various factors, but here are some suggestions that you may find useful:

  1. Before and after pictures are important to track your progress.
  2. Hair loss is associated with Fungus and inflammation. It’s extremely important to incorporate a regimen of anti-fungal shampoos as you undergo laser phototherapy.
  3. We always advise to have your cause of hair loss properly diagnosed. Medical conditions, hormonal imbalances or other lifestyle factors such as stress or nutritional deficiencies can be causing your hair loss. Its important to rule these out to make sure you don’t compromise your laser phototherapy treatments. Visiting a physician, hair loss expert, or Trichologist could help you uncover an issue of which you may not be aware – which could be hindering your hair restoration progress.

The most advanced stages of hair loss have not been tested with Theradome treatments. Schedule a visit with a Trichologist if you fall in this category. Slick or bald areas on your scalp indicate that there are buried hair follicles under a layer of skin. In this particular case, only a combination of hair restoration surgery and laser phototherapy can help these particular shiny areas.

Taking all of the above into account, consistent use of the Theradome will ensure that you maximize the benefits of our laser phototherapy helmet, and don’t forget that we are here to support you along the way.
