How do lasers stop hair loss and grow hair?

how Theradome’s VL680™  Laser works:

The process of laser phototherapy involves directing a very specific color of light (i.e wavelength) 680nm onto the scalp. Only laser light can penetrate through the scalp deep enough to stimulate the hair follicles. When laser light reaches the hair follicles, it energizes the hair follicles and has been clinically proven to stop hair loss and regrow hair. Over time, consistent and regular sessions of laser phototherapy can lead to visible improvements in hair thickness, density, and overall hair health. It is a safe and painless procedure, with no known adverse side effects.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENS BELOW THE SCALP

How Theradome stimulates hair follicles

  • Laser penetrates the scalp up to 5 mm and stimulates the hair follicles and increases stem cell activity
  • Laser light increases stimulation of mitochondria in hair follicle cells to produce more energy (ATP) and reactivate dormant hair follicles.
  • Laser light stimulates the bulge (where stem cells reside) to both stop hair loss while extending the life of the hair follicles - up to 8 years- by increasing the anagen or growth phase.
  • Laser light stimulates the dermal papilla which is responsible for the length of hair growth.

Stopping Hair loss vs. new hair Growth it’s important to KNow the difference

Hair loss and hair growth are vastly different from each other. On average, a person(male or female) will lose about 3,000 hairs/month or 36,000 hairs/year. Before growing back your hair, you must first STOP your hair loss. Hair growth on the other hand is a much slower process. On average it takes about 4 months to grow just one hair! It’s easy to see that your hair loss will rapidly outpace your new hair growth (see chart below). That’s where Theradome comes in. Theradome works quickly (within weeks) to STOP your hair loss which no other device or drug can promise. Then Theradome will help start regrowing new hairs (within 4-6 months). Once hair starts growing again, the promise of new hair is very exciting to most Theradome users. Hair growth takes some time, so please BE PATIENT. Theradome will work, it will STOP your hair loss, and new hair growth will be accelerated, delivering you a thicker, fuller head of hair.

Theradome works to stop hair loss and regrow hair for most people. Take this simple quiz and see if you qualify:

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Image

Please Note: Theradome is a long-term treatment that requires your commitment and consistency of use. In general, the more you use Theradome, the sooner you will start to see results. Patience is key. First you will stop losing hair and then, in about 4 months, you will start to see new hair growth. It’s normal that you may not notice any changes during the first few weeks after starting treatment. That’s because Theradome works invisibly below the surface of the scalp. You will first see an improvement in a reduction in hair loss, followed by regrowth of new thicker and fuller hair. We always recommend taking photos before starting and again in 4 months, so you can see the results for yourself!

WHY THERADOME IS your best option

WHY THERADOME IS the best

Theradome is superior to any other hair loss solution

It’s important to understand the key elements that are required to design an effective laser phototherapy device. Tamim and the team at Theradome leveraged over 40 years of experience and expertise in both laser technology and in biomedical engineering principles to design the ultimate laser phototherapy device. Theradome has taken into account all of the key elements required to build the most award winning, clinically proven and best performing LPT device in the world. We are the only laser phototherapy device to be manufactured in the United States, in the heart of Silicon Valley.

Theradome’s clinical Trials

Treatment of Androgenetic alopecia in Males with Theradome PRO LH80

In 2016 Theradome® conducted a clinical trial on the efficacy and safety of laser phototherapy with Theradome PRO LH80 for promoting hair growth in males with androgenetic alopecia: a multicenter, randomized, sham device-controlled, double- blind study. This a first of a kind study that clearly shows that using the Theradome versus a sham (placebo) will regrow your hair and make it thicker as well as stop your hair loss. This type of study is the gold standard for evaluating devices to assure that the results are pristine and eliminate subjective data. (www.fda.gov)

LEDs vs laser

Many other products use LEDs or Light Emitting Diodes in their devices. LEDs are NOT the same as Lasers. Only Laser light is absorbed 100% by skin tissue. They emit a consistent, focused energy output that is the only type of light that can penetrate deep enough to stimulate the bulge and papilla, the 2 most important hair structures in a hair follicle. LEDs, on the other hand, emit an unfocused light that is only 5-6% absorbed by skin tissue and does not penetrate deep enough below the scalp to be effective. As a result, only lasers can excite the stem cells to stop hair loss and grow new hair.

More lasers are not better

A product that can provide maximum dosage with minimal heat output is ideal for LPT. Heat and hair growth do not mix. The more lasers a product has, the more heat there is which actually causes a type of hair loss known as Telogen Effluvium. If the laser heat is not managed well, you may end up damaging your hair follicles. Theradome uses the optimal number of lasers (no more than 80 lasers and no less than 40 lasers) and is proven to emit less than 1 degree centigrade in one, 20-minute usage cycle. That’s why it’s a considered a “cold” laser. Many other products advertise they have more lasers, but don’t ever think more lasers will be better as more lasers only bring more heat and heat is not good for your scalp!

The correct wavelength makes a huge difference

Theradome is the only LPT device in the world that uses the wavelength (680nm) that has been clinically shown to stimulate hair follicles. The most published researcher in this space is T. Karu and her research indicated that 680nm stimulates hair follicles 2.5 times more than other wavelengths. This is shown on the graph to the right. The fact is that any other wavelength does not stimulate hair follicles, this is like tuning into the wrong radio station and expecting to hear music, but all you will get instead is static noise.

Optimal Dosage is key

An LPT device should ensure hair is treated with the correct energy dosage, otherwise hair growth treatment will be ineffective. According to the Swedish Laser Medical Society, optimal energy density delivered to the scalp during one 20-minute treatment, triggers cellular response of hair follicles for hair restoration. The Theradome laser helmet strictly adheres by these guidelines. Theradome delivers a hair growth treatment dose that improves the density and overall quality of hair while accelerating new hair regrowth.

The importance of COHERENT LIGHT for stimulating the mitochondria

Lasers are the only man-made light source and laser technology is revolutionizing our world in many ways. Only lasers produce coherent light, meaning their light waves are aligned and travelling in synchronicity. Laser light is needed to penetrate the scalp at a depth of 3 – 5 mm and reach the base of a hair follicle. No other light source (i.e. LEDs) can achieve this. By treating the base of the hair follicles, our proprietary cold laser hair growth treatment ensures the mitochondria of hair cells are stimulated. The mitochondria then produces cell energy that is harnessed by hair follicles promoting new hair growth.
